Speaker Biography
Earl W. Shank serves as the Senior Manager of Traceability and leads Tapestry Inc.'s traceability efforts as part of the ESG & Sustainability team. In his role, he is responsible for implementing and managing programs to reach Tapestry's goal of achieving 95% traceability and mapping of raw materials to ensure a transparent and responsible supply chain by 2025. This goal is part of Tapestry’s commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainable business practices and extends to its house of iconic brands, including Coach and kate spade new york.
Earl engages with several key civil society organizations on traceability-related matters, including the Leather Working Group, Textile Exchange, and AAFA. As part of these efforts, Tapestry joined the Deforestation-Free Call to Action for Leather in June 2023. In addition to his responsibilities at Tapestry, Earl also advises the Tapestry Foundation, which in 2022 awarded a 4-year, $3MM grant to the World Wildlife Fund to accelerate the development of a deforestation and conversion-free standard for leather.
Earl earned a Master's in Public Administration with a concentration in International Development from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. Prior to joining Tapestry, Earl worked at the Fair Labor Association on matters related to supply chain social responsibility.
