Scott Mooney is Vice President of Distribution Operations at McKesson Corporation. His primary responsibilities are assuring
product integrity through regulatory compliance and traceability. Scott manages McKesson’s enterprise DSCSA Track and
Trace deployment. McKesson is primarily recognized as a pharmaceutical distributor but also is a generics manufacturer, a
third-party logistics provider, medical surgical supply distributor and a solution provider for healthcare entities. Scott joined
McKesson in 1987 and had previous roles in Finance, Distribution Center Management and as a Regional Vice President of
Distribution Operations. Scott has a BS in Accountancy and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of
Wisconsin – La Crosse.
Scott has been active in Healthcare Distribution Alliance Traceability Workgroup in addition to serving on the HDA Industry
Relations Council and Regulatory Affairs task forces. HDA represents distributors and engages on topics such as the DSCSA
implementation as well as the Uniform National Licensing draft regulation.
Scott has been co-chair GS1 Global Healthcare Leadership Team since 2015. GS1 Global Healthcare is an international
standards body with roles in bar coding and data exchange. Scott has been on the GS1 US Executive Leadership Committee
since its inception. Prior to these roles, Scott served as a member of the GSMP Process Oversight Committee (POC) which
had governed the standards development process assuring its compliance with the GS1 charter for workgroups.
Additionally, Scott has been on the Board of Directors for the Partnership for DSCSA Governance since its creations in 2019.
The PDG is a public private partnership of industry with the FDA that includes manufacturers, distributors, dispensers, and
solution providers working to publish a blueprint for the interoperable electronic systems required under the DSCSA.
Scott is a frequent speaker at various events on topics which includes the use of GS1 standards such as GLNs, GTINs, and
SSCCs as well as the use of EPCIS for data exchange to meet the upcoming requirements of the DSCSA. Scott also has spoken
with conferences held by the HDA, GS1 Global Healthcare and GS1 US Healthcare, American Society of Pharmaceutical Law;
Food and Drug Law Institute, National Association of Boards of Pharmacy and many others.
