Speaker Biography
The Buyerdock Digital Product Passport was developed out of a passion to tell the consumer the brands story.
Jonathan started his working career training as an accountant, before moving into sales and joining the family manufacturing business on the Southeast coast of England, so far South you could see France.
Through manufacturing and selling consumer goods into retail, Jonathan experienced all the challenges of a small family run business when competing with shelf space and getting the margins right.
In 2008 Jonathan was working for a French manufacturer based in La Rochelle in Western France and in his preparation for a major sales meeting he came across the names of the workers in the field in Mexico who cut the Aloe Vera leaves for the 3rd party supplier. He was blown away by the simple transparency of the companies supply chain, but amazed that no one would ever find the information buried deep in the web site. This started a passion to get more information to the consumer.
In 2019 Jonathan joined forced with his co-founder Kevin Dixie and Buyerdock was formed. But the true development of the platform was only accelerated when, during a meeting with GS1 in London they mentioned the development of the 2D barcode. Now, for the first-time manufacturers could truly engage with their consumers.
Jonathan is married to Anna, with 3 grown up boys and an English Cocker Spaniel called Rhubarb, enjoys running and is an active member of his local Methodist church.
